02/14/2011 - CEBU CITY, Cebu — The Regional office of the Department of Education (DepEd 7) is urging school administrators and officials of parents, teachers, and community associations (PTCA) to map out additional measures to ensure the safety and security of pupils.
DepEd 7 Director Recaredo Borgonia issued this directive following the alleged abduction and murder of a six-year-old Grade 1 pupil of Calajo-an Elementary School in Minglanilla who was found dead in Barili on Wednesday.
Borgonia also formed a team to conduct a fact-finding investigation on the circumstances behind the kidnapping and murder of Ellah Joy Pique to determine the possible administrative liability of the school officials.
