15-year-old is Sudoku champ

2/1/10 - Manila — National Sudoku Grandmaster Sarah Jane Cua has done it again.
For the third time, the 15-year-old high school student at Pangasinan Universal Institute topped the Philippine Sudoku Super Challenge (PSSC) championships held in Quezon City Friday.
She scored a total of 1,601 points from five rounds in the day-long contest to bag the title, according to Dr. Simon Chua, president of Mathematics Trainers' Guild-Phils., chief organizer of the competition held at SM North Edsa mall.
Cua, also the grand prize winner in the 2008 Brand's Asia-Pacific Sudoku Championships in Singapore, took home P60,000 and a trophy.
She placed second in 2009's Brand's Sudoku International Open in Bangkok.
In the 2010's PSSC, Matthew Chris Chan from St. Stephen's High School in Manila and Mariel Alexis Dee from Ateneo de Manila University placed second and third in the Sudoku Grandmaster division (for college students and professionals), taking home P40,000 and P30,000, respectively, as well as trophies.
In the Sudoku Wizard category (for high school students), Timothy James Tan from Trinity Christian School in Bacolod City placed first, followed by Sed Anderson Holaysan from Bethany Christian School in Cebu City, and Ma. Czarina Angela Lao from St. Jude College in Manila.
In the Whiz Kid division (for elementary students), Ethan Riley Chan from Zamboanga Chong Hua High School in Zamboanga City emerged champion, followed by Magin Benedict Ferrer from St. Joseph School and Lorenzo Jose Baquiran from Jaro I Elementary School, both in Iloilo City
