‘Eraptions’ tickle the audience

1/23/10 - FORMER president Joseph Estrada provided instant comic relief to what was expected to be a serious presidential forum in Cebu City.

A few minutes after the forum started, Estrada brought the house down with his answer to the opening question: Why should Cebu vote for you?”

He used up his alloted three minutes greeting all high-ranking officials and forum organizers, such as the Cebu Business Club, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

“Now going back to the question, Why should Cebu vote for me?”, Estrada ended.
At this point, the bell rang signaling that his time was up.

Estrada just shook his head as the audience roared in laughter.

When asked about the problem of graft and corruption, Estrada quipped: “Been there done that.”

He smiled and clarified what he said. “I have been there – as the president that has been wrongly accused,” Estrada corrected.

On his stand on environmental issues, he replied : “itong mga pollution na ito, ay kasalanan ito ng mga First World countries na ito (This pollution, it's the fault of the First World countries).”
Despite his seemingly irrevent banter or perhaps because of it, Estrada received the loudest cheers and applause from the audience in the forum.
