August 27, 2009 - Despite the slow growth of the direct selling industry, a German-based health and beauty systems company has expanded its reach in Cebu.
Like other direct selling companies, LR Health and Beauty Systems, only grew 7 percent in sales since the firm started operating in the Philippines in 2007, said Andreas Kemper, general manager of LR Health and Beauty Systems.
Kemper, however, welcomed the growth, with the company opening a branch in Cebu.
He said they decided to put up an office in Cebu after seeing the potential of the Cebu market.
The firm offers an Aloe Vera line of products which includes moisturizers, lotions, and health supplements.
He attributed the growth of the company to their partners or salespersons working harder in these difficult times to sell more products, banking on the notion that women would always try to look beautiful and would buy beauty products although in smaller quantities.
Kemper said the company started 24 years ago in Ireland, Germany and became one of the industry's leading players in 27 European countries, Australia and New Zealand.
The company opened an office in the Philippines two years ago and has around 6,000 active members with 50 stockist centers or commercial retailer or wholesaler that stocks LR merchandise across the country.

Cebu City is located on the central eastern part of Cebu Province, an island at the center of the Visayas in Southern Philippines.
