THE government agencies which were tasked by the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) to implement “Ligtas Biyahe Undas 2012” have reported a generally peaceful observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
Except for reports of vessel ticket scalping and pickpocket incidents, Supt. Glenn Sarador of the Cebu Port Authority (CPA) police department, said that generally, movements of departing and arriving passengers were normal.
Sarador said Oplan Undas will end today and that so far, no untoward incident has been recorded.
Sarador said the number of outbound and embarking passengers is back to normal since last Saturday and the volume of the disembarking and arriving passengers has increased.
“We are also expecting an increase in volume of passengers tomorrow (today) since it would be the first day of work and classes for the second semester,” Sarador said.
General Manager Nigel Paul Villatete of Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) said no flight was cancelled as of 3:00 p.m. yesterday.
He said there was a noticeable increase in the number of passengers yesterday morning, which lessened towards midday.
Villarete attributed the normal movements of passengers to the long weekend.
Director Ahmed Cuizon, of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) 7, said the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day was generally peaceful, even better compared to those of previous years.
He said this is partly due to special permits that he issued to bus companies, allowing them to make extra trips outside their routes.
Director Raul Aguilos, of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) 7, also said there were no untoward incidents reported by his personnel as of yesterday.
