01/10/2011 - CEBU'S hotels and resorts are ready for the stream of foreign visitors coming to Cebu City for this week's Sinulog 2011 celebration.
Regional Director Rowena Montecillo of the Department of Tourism in Central Visayas (DOT-7) said they are coordinating with other stakeholders for the Airport Welcome for Balikbayan Flights starting this week.
Montecillo said she also advised travel agencies to coordinate with their office for the tourist arrivals which they expect to swell in the days leading to the Sinulog festival. She said some hotels reported full bookings within Cebu City.
Montecillo said they want to assure everyone that there are sufficient accommodations for the event. She said the DOT hopes to spread the Sinulog fever to the neighboring provinces and municipalities.
“Sinulog as the main attraction in this month's celebration can be a way of promoting to our tourists the other beautiful places of Cebu,” said Montecillo.
The regional DOT-7 chief pointed to the Capitol's Suroy Suroy sa Sugbo tourism campaign as another tourism come-on. “There's so much to discover in Cebu,” Montecillo said. (Inquirer Global Nation)
