07/02/2010 - Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama has given City Hall employees 90 days to shape up or face the consequences as he aims to make City Hall a constituent-friendly place.
Rama, in his inaugural speech on Wednesday, said that in his first 100 days in office, he would evaluate the performance of all city hall department heads and employees.
“All employees will be rated based on ratio of 90 percent performance and only 10 percent political consideration,” Rama said.
He said constituents who would go to City Hall to pay their taxes would always be attended to with a smile and with proper manners.
He said he also expected the department heads to be efficient and effectively address the basic services including garbage collection, road asphalt and dispensation of health services.
Rama said he wanted the Cebu City Medical Center to become more accessible and more efficient in the deliver of health services.
He tasked Dr. Tomas Fernandez, who volunteered oversee operations of the Cebu City Health Department and the CCMC, to help him realize these objectives.
He also asked the Cebuanos and his critics to give his administration a chance to prove its worth.
In the meantime, former city councilor Sylvan “Jack” Jakosalem, who is now Mayor Rama's representative in the City Traffic Operations Management board (Citom), announced the start of the recruitment of at least 100 traffic enforcers.
Jakosalem said starting yesterday Citom was accepting applications for traffic enforcers.
Jakosalem said the traffic office was hoping to recruit at least 100 enforcers if the mayor would permit it.
Jakosalem said the mayor's employees evaluation might result in nonrenewal of contract of existing enforcers.
The city now has at least 300 traffic enforcers (Inquirer)
