2/18/10 - CEBU CITY – Two persons died and two others were reported missing in a fire that broke out in an apartment building here early Thursday, authorities said.
The Cebu City fire department reported that they found two burned bodies in one of the 15 units of the apartment building in Barangay (village) Capitol Site that was hit by fire at 3:37 a.m. Thursday.
Arson investigator Antonio Gonzales said the fatalities have yet to be identified although four persons, including a teenage boy, were reported missing.
Gonzales identified the four missing persons as Rolando Caberte, 63, a retired employee of Philippine Air Lines, his daughter Maria Carmen Caberte, his grandson Miguel Paolo and house helper Alma Dela Torre, a native of Canlaon City, Negros Occidental.
Investigators said the fire could have started at the Cabertes’ unit. The fire also destroyed several houses nearby. (inquirer)
Cebu City is located on the central eastern part of Cebu Province, an island at the center of the Visayas in Southern Philippines.
